The Gottsman family has filed a lawsuit against the summer camp where their son Yoni drowned in 2005. Yoni Gottsman was only four years old when he drowned at the Cathedral Oaks Athletic Club. He was attending summer camp in August 2005 when it is alleged that he was unsupervised at the club’s pool. A surveillance video reveals Yoni was found floating face down in the water with no supervision in the immediate vicinity.

While we are all enjoying the Chicago summer, it is important to make certain that our children are being properly supervised during all activities. When a child is injured do to poor supervision, someone should be held accountable, and if the child is being cared for by a camp or other service, it is the service’s responsibility to make certain the children are safe. If a child is injured due to lack of supervision, the family and child may be entitled to recover for the child’s injury and should contact an attorney for more information.
