The Illinois Department of Public Health recently reported two nursing homes that were fined for not properly monitoring patients. The violations were both Type A violations under the Nursing Home Care Act.
At Sterling Pavilion a woman died from a head injury she sustained after a fall at the nursing home. At Coventry Village a 64 year old man was rushed to a hospital after going into septic shock. Both violations were Type A violation, which is a violation that “pertains to a condition in which there is a substantial probablity that death or serious mental or physical harm will result.”
