Mattel Inc. announced a recall of nearly 1 million of its Chinese manufactured toys after fear the toys may contain lead. The maker of popular Fisher Price toys including “Dora the Explorer” and several Sesame Street characters has recalled at least 83 types of toys. Some listed include Big Bird, Elmo, Dora and Diego characters. The toys are believed to have excessive amounts of lead in them due to the paint used.

There are many symptoms of lead poisoning, but they are not always easy to detect. Parents should discard any toys affected by the recall and monitor their children for signs of possible lead poisoning.
