As posted yesterday, Hal Pulfer of Highland Park, Illinois, died while on vacation with his family in Maui, Hawaii. Pulfer was enjoying a whale watching trip aboard a catamaran owned by the Hyatt Regency, when the mast of the boat broke and the boat sank.

The investigation is ongoing into the death of Pulfer but it is now being reported that Pulfer suffered from a blunt trauma to the head, although the cause of death has yet to be determined. The Coast Guard reported that the investigation could take months.

Pulfer was on vacation with his three children who were enjoying their spring break. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, Pulfer’s family may have a claim against the Hyatt Regency and those in control of the boat for the wrongful death of Hal Pulfer.
