A woman and her best friend were killed just a couple of days before Christmas when the pickup they were riding in veered off the road and hit a tree. The driver of the pickup was treated for injuries, and it was discovered she was impaired at the time of the crash. The three were out Christmas shopping at the time.

According to authorities, it was the second DUI for Yolanda Rivera, the driver of the pickup in the accident, and her license had been suspended in November for another DUI charge. The accident victims were Rivera’s younger sister, Jasmine, and Jasmine’s best friend Nicole Barr. Yolanda’s B.A.C. was more than twice the legal limit.

The accident occurred at 8104 Riegel Road in Chicago.
