Ford recently announced it is recalling 3.6 million vehicles due to a faulty cruise control switch. The switch may be a fire hazard. Ford has reported at least a few vehicle owners have complained of fires. Ford has settled at leat one lawsuit. Earl Mohlis filed suit against Ford after his wife died as a result of a fire caused by the faulty switch.

The problematic switch was first brought to light during a CNN story aired in 2005. The show reported the cruise control switch could cause a fire in the vehicle even after the vehicle was turned off for several hours.
